About Us

Simon and Monica Wiggins started Avidity Training and Development in July 2009.

Their first contract was to deliver Certificate II in Community Services to a group of jobseekers in Burnie through CRS Australia. The group had significant barriers to employment. They started to explore opportunities and develop strategies to overcome perceived barriers. They used the VET framework to create a positive, safe environment where participants were supported by each other, where they were not alone. Nine participants completed the program; six went on into further study, four gained immediate employment within the community service industry and all gained in self-confidence and personal awareness.

In 2010 were awarded “Best Micro Business in Australia”. We began to secure contracts with other Job Service Australia providers (now known as jobactives) and the business began to rapidly expand. Avidity is a positive feeling of wanting to push ahead with something with enthusiasm and dedication, to be avid. This is how we  felt and what we wanted our participants to experience.

In 2014, Avidity was awarded the Employer of Choice and in In 2016 we won the Tasmanian Training Award for Small Training Provider of the Year, followed by being chosen as a finalist for the 2016 Australian Training Awards.

Definition of Avidity:
